August 13–16, 2018—This QuickBooks workshop is intended for businesses actively producing agricultural crops for commercial sales. It is best suited for those who want to increase their accounting skills by using QuickBooks software for farm financial recordkeeping.
September 1, 2018—Start a successful year in your school learning garden! Join facilitators Amanda Rieux and Wendy Baker and learn how to establish garden protocol and routines, set up key garden systems with tools and compost, plan for schedules and curriculum integration. We will share and learn best practices for various school garden environments and grade levels.
September 8, 2018—Hawaiʻi Island Vog Network: A Yearlong Professional Development Program for Middle and High School Educators
This yearlong course is limited to 6th- through 12th-grade teachers on a first-come, first-served basis. Please complete the application form no later than July 30, 2018 so we may learn more about you. You will receive notice of acceptance by August 7, 2018.
September 22–23, 2018—Come be part of local community conversations on the hows and whys of growing seeds specifically adapted for Hawai‘i. Check out variety trials in progress, learn how to conduct successful trials in your garden, talk story with local seed growers, and meet others in your community interested in improving local food security.
October 8–12, 2018—Our Ōhāhā intersession programs help high school students deepen kinship with ‘āina and local agriculture through ‘ike that will also help them flourish in life.
November 17, 2018–August 10, 2019—The Kohala Center’s Beginning Farmer-Rancher Development Program is a nine-month course that includes 188 hours of classroom training, online coursework, on-farm demonstrations and workshops, and field trips, as well as a student-selected assignment.

Learn the basics of QuickBooks for business covering file types, creating a company, chart of accounts, financial reporting, making an invoice, and more. Speakers from Office of Hawaiian Affairs, The Kohala Center, Hi‘ilei Aloha LLC, Hawaiian Community Assets, and Hawai‘i Small Business Development Center will discuss programs, services, and funding sources that can help you start and grow a small business.
