La ‘Ike Day celebration at Kahalu‘u

KAMUELA, Hawai‘i—October 19, 2010—Enjoy traditional Hawaiian games and celebrate the culture and science of Kahalu‘u during La ‘Ike day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 30, at the beach park’s main pavilion. Learn to play Hawaiian games including konane (similar to checkers), hei (string figures), and pala‘ie (played with a loop and ball); discover the important role they played in Hawaiian culture and why they are still enjoyed today.
