In 2014 and 2015 the Hawai‘i Public Seed Initiative has offered mini-grants to our seed network leaders in an effort to continue to expand the scope of our seed work and outreach. Grants have been awarded in the areas of:
- Variety trials
- Crop database
- Market analysis (defining demand)
- Defining quality control procedures
- Seed-cleaning equipment
- Seed education including seed share stations, basic seed-saving workshops, seed-lending libraries, seed exchanges with an educational component.
Mini-grant awards in 2014 totaling $15,000 were distributed to six grantees.
Mini-grant awards in 2015 totaling $18,614 were distributed to ten grantees.
