After the workshop, garden teacher Donna Mitts will give a tour of the school garden and Wormville, a mid-scale worm composting system used to convert cafeteria food waste into valuable fertilizer.

Drake will present basic methods to improve the effectiveness of beneficial microbes enabling plants to grow to their full potential. Drake will demonstrate how to start your own microbial cultures with very little cost. Perfect for home or school garden applications. Followed by potluck picnic lunch in the garden.
Meeting at 9:00 a.m. at the King Lau Lau Poi Factory in Honoka‘a with Waipi‘o farmer Jim Cain. Meeting/sharing and tour of Laupahoehoe High School Farm to follow. Potluck lunch.
