First grade teacher Ting Ortiz will share some of the many ways she incorporates curriculum into the school learning garden. Ting leads an after school garden club which is very popular with students. Discussion followed by a tour of the Kaumana Elementary student learning gardens. Refreshments provided as well as free plants and seeds to share.
Learn the basics of backyard composting and how to create and maintain a composting worm bin. This two hour workshop is a great way to learn how to divert kitchen and yard waste from our landfills and turn them into a nutrient rich soil amendment.
