September 22, 2017 (West Hawaii Today)—Thirty-four community-based organizations across the United States that provide assistance to disadvantaged entrepreneurs will soon receive a combined $5 million in grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Program for Investment in Micro-Entrepreneurs (PRIME).
The Kohala Center (TKC) is among these organizations that help low-income entrepreneurs gain access to capital to establish and expand their small businesses. Their PRIME award will total $150,000, to be made available Sept. 30 for a 12-month project period.

Across the nation, farm to school programs are reconnecting students to a better understanding of the food system and where their food comes from. Farm to school programs introduce students to healthier eating habits and help them become familiar with new vegetables and fruits that they and their families will then be more willing to incorporate into their own diets. »Read more
