The Kohala Center is committed to helping Hawai‘i’s agricultural cooperatives and businesses develop financing strategies to ensure the success and longevity of these ventures and the strength of the rural economies in which they operate.
Many farmers, ranchers, and food processors face challenges in identifying and securing sufficient capital to start, sustain, or expand their operations. We work with agricultural businesses that are in various stages of development from start-up ventures to long-established agribusinesses to help them obtain needed financing, with a particular focus on USDA funding programs. Additionally, our Business Development Services team assists industry associations to address specific needs that could strengthen or threaten the success of their member businesses, supporting cooperative solutions to economic challenges.
The Kohala Center Rural and Cooperative Business Development Services offer several financial capitalization services including grant and loan application assistance and help to cooperatives developing their seed capital through equity shares and attracting preferred stock investors.
