Accounting and QuickBooks for Farmers

September 17–20, 2019—This QuickBooks workshop is intended for businesses actively producing agricultural crops for commercial sales. It is best suited for those who want to increase their accounting skills by using QuickBooks (QB) software for farm financial recordkeeping. Registrants should already be using QuickBooks (desktop or online version) and have some accounting experience.

Hoa‘āina Stewardship Day

September 21, 2019—Journey with us into the Koai‘a Corridor at one or more of our Hoa‘āina Stewardship Days! These experiences are designed to deepen our kinship with Kohala and our watersheds, restoring our ability as a community to engage and build healthy relationships with our native environment once again. Depending on the environmental conditions of the day, we will learn protocols such as oli (chants) and pule (prayers, blessings) for entering sacred spaces and encouraging growth and resilience, remove invasive plants and weeds, plant native trees and shrubs, and nurture young trees to grow healthy and strong.

Hawai‘i Seed Fest: Local Seeds for Local Needs

Saturday, September 21, 2019—Hosted by Gerry Herbert and Nancy Redfeather with special guests. Clean, share seed, and taste crops grown during Kona’s “wet season”; learn about vegetative propagation of tropical food crops and take home some cuttings; discover fresh and free seed at the Kailua-Kona seed library; take the once-a-year Kawanui Farm Tour; and more. Attendance is $10 per person and space is limited to 15 participants.
