Monday June 9, 2014 - A three-day workshop for K-8 classroom teachers, this year’s Kū ‘Āina Pā Summer Intensive will deepen basic garden skills and curriculum development with presentations, hands-on work in the Māla‘ai Culinary Garden, and learning to use Lifelab’s “The Growing Classroom” and database. Many Charter Schools on Hawai‘i Island are moving forward to create a healthy and nutritious snack and lunch program for their students. Because each charter school is its own school food authority, the flexibility for purchasing and being innovative and creative with school food is evident in many of the programs on Hawai‘i Island.
