November 9–10, 2015—The Kohala Center is offering two-day workshops on Hawai‘i Island, Maui, and Moloka‘i that will train new and seasoned fruit and vegetable growers to meet food safety standards and the needs of wholesale markets.
November 7, 2015—Dr. Albie Miles from University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu will discuss the history of agriculture and the environmental quality and human health risks associated with modern, industrial farming practices. His presentation will detail the role of the science of ecology and the management of biodiversity in developing sustainable farming and discuss some of the key social, economic, and political obstacles to sustainable food and farming systems in Hawai‘i.
