Korean Natural Farming (KNF) is a highly effective and environmentally friendly system of agricultural production systematized by Dr. Cho Han-Kyu, a South Korean native whose clients include the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. Trained in Natural Farming by Master Cho, our certified teachers and farmers have been tasked to adapt Natural Farming to our unique climate and land here in Hawai‘i.
Based on a fresh approach to traditional agricultural techniques, KNF embodies the new scientific paradigm that microorganisms are responsible for the fertility in the soils that nourish our crops. It also teaches how to create nutrient sprays from readily available, non-toxic materials that can be obtained on the farm and how to use them effectively. Implementation of KNF requires time, technical training, and a disciplined approach to farming, which pays off in reduced costs for farm inputs, continuous improvements in soil quality, and healthy, productive plants and animals on the farm.
This training course certifies you as a Natural Farmer in Dr. Cho’s system and qualifies your farm for the lowest agricultural property tax available, should you choose to implement KNF on your farm. Certification is also a prerequisite for membership in the CGNF Cooperative, which entitles you to reduced rates on inputs and consultations, as well as a share in any profits gained by the co-op’s business activities.
