April 25, 2015—Join us as we continue a six-year tradition of planting native trees in honor of Earth Day. This year we will be planting the foundational tree of the wet forest of Kohala: ʻōhiʻa lehua. These trees were grown from seed collected right in our own backyard by KWP partners, staff, and volunteers, and now is our opportunity to return them “back home” to reforest the leeward slopes of Kohala Mountain.
What will the corridor look like in this year’s Earth Day photo op? Join us and find out!
We will meet at The Kohala Center office at 8:30 a.m., and after a brief orientation, we will carpool to the work site. Be prepared for a variety of weather: from chilly, windy, and rainy, to blazing sunshine (…also known as usual Kohala weather—a little of each!). Wear long pants and sturdy shoes or boots, and bring lunch and a water bottle in a backpack. Experienced volunteers suggest long sleeves for protection from the elements.
Please click here to RSVP by Thursday, April 22.
