Thursday, August 24, 2017—Deepen your connection with the ‘āina! Join The Kohala Center’s Kohala Watershed Partnership crew for a morning of removing invasive Himalayan ginger at Pu‘u Pili to give our native forest a chance to breathe, rejuvenate, and retain moisture.
Meet at The Kohala Center’s offices (65-1291A Kawaihae Rd.) at 8 a.m. and bring along a water bottle and sack lunch. Boots or sturdy shoes are required and rain gear is highly recommended. Be prepared for any kind of weather: hot or cold, sunny or cloudy, windy or calm, wet or dry…knowing Kohala, probably all of the above! We provide tools, gloves, and cold drinking water. We’ll work, hike, explore, picnic, and then work a bit more, returning to Waimea by 1 p.m.
