Hoa‘āina Stewardship Day: The Koaiʻa Corridor
(Kohala, Hawai‘i Island)

September 21 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

- Free

September 21, 2024—Community members of all ages are invited to join in our 2024 Hoa‘āina Stewardship Experiences! These guided, half-day learning journeys are designed to deepen our pilina (relationships) with Kohala’s natural and cultural landscape, create space for meaningful exchanges between place and people, and share in mālama ‘āina (care for the land) in this moku we call home.

The day will include an introduction to each other and ʻāina, a hike up the corridor, engaging in the traditional practice of kilo, as well as clearing and mulching some of our outplantings. PLEASE NOTE: participants will need to hike about 5/8ths of a mile uphill to get to the worksite, this event is best suited for guests in good hiking condition.

To make this event safe for all, we are limiting space to no more than 20 participants. Details on where to meet and what to bring will be provided in the days leading up to the event. For more information, please contact Mia Akau-LaClair at makaulaclair@kohalacenter.org or 808-887-6411.
