September 12, 2015—This workshop is designed for teachers of grades K through 12. Every teacher who uses a school garden should be very familiar with “good agricultural practices,” or GAPs, for safely growing and harvesting food that will be consumed by students. Join Mary Lynn Garner from Konawaena High School who has pioneered best practices in this area and works closely with the school’s culinary teacher. Each attendee will receive a Food Safety Practices Poster for their classroom or school garden and the GAP checklist for school garden food safety. Bring a notebook, water bottle, hat, and gloves.
