School Food Festivals

This year the Hawai‘i Island School Garden Network is working with schools island-wide to provide teachers with training and resources needed to enhance their Wellness and School Garden Programs.

Four schools on Hawai‘i Island will be hosting a School Food Festival to share work being done by their faculty and school garden educators to increase students' nutritional awareness and healthy food choices, increase physical activity, and help to create lifelong habits that support well-being. Each school listed below has a special interest in their community’s health and has planned a special event to celebrate food that is nutritious, tasty, and fun to grow, prepare, and eat!

Exact Dates and times to be determined. Food Festivals will be held from November 2012 to January 2013. Check back by November 1 for more details.

East Hawai‘i
Date: Friday, December 14, 2012 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Location: Kua O Ka La, Puna
Event for Kua O Ka La school community only.

East Hawai‘i
Date: Saturday, November 17, 2012
Location: Mala‘ai Culinary Garden of the Waimea Middle School, Waimea
