As our volunteers tell us, “Volunteering with KWP feels good in two ways: your body gets a good workout, and your soul feels good from giving back.”

Join us in planting native trees and shrubs in the Pelekane Bay watershed restoration area. This is the drier, makai side of the watershed, where we have most of our plants on irrigation. We will be “dibbling” a‘ali‘i and koai‘a to bring back tree cover to some of the drainages, to help hold soil during future floods.

Meet at The Kohala Center office (65-1291A Kawaihae Rd) in Waimea at 8:30 a.m. After a brief orientation we will carpool together to the site. Our work will be in an area with little shade but amazing views, so bring your hat, water bottle and camera! Also include sunscreen, a sack lunch, and rain gear in your backpack, and wear boots or sturdy shoes. KWP will provide all plants, tools, gloves, and drinking water. We will return to Waimea by 3:30 pm.
