KWP Volunteer Work Days
Saturday, February 16, 2013
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Join Us for a Great "Dam Day"!
The most effective method we have found for keeping sediment off of the coral reef in Pelekane Bay/Kawaihae Bay is building sediment check dams. Are you up for something completely different? We will be working on the hot, dry, windy Kawaihae watershed, doing various jobs. This is an opportunity to put your hands to work making a difference, while learning some basic engineering skills! This is very dirty work! Meet at the back parking lot of the Kohala Center office (65-1291A Kawaihae Rd.) at 8:30 and load into our 4x4 vehicles. It will be a bumpy 45-minute drive to the work site in what we call "moon country." Wear sturdy shoes or boots, long pants, and bring water bottle, lunch, and sun protection. We provide tools, snacks, and work gloves.
Please RSVP by Thursday 2/14. We do have limited seats for this trip, so we ask for a firm commitment.
See the KWP Calendar of Events.
Details will be posted on each day as they get closer.
