Grow Hawai‘i’s Mission
Grow Hawai‘i supports the development of school gardens and farm to school connections at HAIS member schools and through HAIS’ participation in the state- and nation-wide educational dialogue.
Grow Hawai‘i’s Vision
We envision school gardens as a fully integrated and mission-critical element of school life, providing authentic learning experiences and access to healthy food to all children and their communities statewide.
What we do
- Provide advice on establishing school gardens and farm to school connections for healthy, local, lunches as a service to HAIS member schools.
- Work intensively with four independent schools that have committed to developing their garden programs as models for the school garden community.
- Provide professional development and networking for educators in collaboration with the HAIS Schools of the Future Initiative through the annual Schools of the Future Conference (open to all schools) and Learning Walks series (HAIS member schools).
- Promote garden-based education and healthy, local, school food through the HAIS Enews.
- Atherton Family Foundation
- Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture
- Whole Foods Market
