Closing Remarks
Diane Ley, Deputy Director of Research and Development, County of Hawai‘i
This summit raised our awareness of the complexity of the consequences of our choices, and it made us question our basic assumptions.
The County government is grateful to have such an experienced and knowledgeable local, national, and international team to support us as we plan for the future. We have to have the courage to ask the really important questions. If we stay on our current course, collapse is imminent. But what if we tweak the course we are on? This project will provide us with models that will show us our opportunities for change.
We know we need to change our behaviors and our actions. Today we heard a call for action to explore our institutions, our policies, and our plans, so that we can make informed choices for our future.
